Community Highlights
Hunger Action Month | September 2025
Since 1981, Feeding South Florida® has worked hard to address hunger and food insecurity in West Palm Beach by providing our community with immediate access to nutritious food and other vital resources and support.
Hunger does not discriminate, it knows no race, religion, or age; and in South Florida, where approximately one million individuals face hunger, food should not be an impossible choice for those in our community.
Feeding South Florida actively leads hunger and poverty advocacy efforts in our community while transforming lives through innovative programming and education that provides economic growth and overall well-being — and our City is committed to supporting this crucial mission.
"Together, we can achieve a hunger-free South Florida." — Mayor Keith A. James
Mayor James has officially proclaimed September 2025 as Hunger Action Month in the City of West Palm Beach.
During the month, food banks across the country, including Feeding South Florida, will participate in the nationwide campaign "Go Orange" to raise awareness and inspire action in the fight against hunger in their local community.
Project Uplift Community Cleanup
This month’s Project Uplift community cleanup collected a whopping 678 pounds of litter!
This amazing group of 42 volunteers focused their efforts along North Tamarind Avenue and the eastward blocks, between Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard and Banyan Boulevard. Collectively, they contributed a total of 126 service hours.
Outstanding job, everyone! Thank you for helping keep our City beautiful.
And thank you to our City's "Keep West Palm Beach Beautiful" team who happily provided trash bags, garbage-pickers, buckets, safety vests, and coordinated the removal of the collected litter.
Project Uplift cleanups are hosted by the Kappa Upsilon Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. — a proud partner of the City of West Palm Beach. Anyone interested in participating in a cleanup (scheduled on the 4th Saturday of every month) should contact Attorney Edwin Ferguson at (561) 840-1846 or projectupliftpbc@gmail.com.
