The City of West Palm Beach joins with the State of Florida and U.S. Government to recognize the sacrifices and services of our armed forces throughout the history of the United States. Veterans Day is observed annually on November 11 to mark the anniversary of the end of World War I. Known as Armistice Day, it was first observed in 1919 to commemorate the end of World War I on the 11th hour or the 11th day of the 11th month. After World War II and the Korean Conflict, it was changed to Veterans Day.
