West Palm Beach Police Explorer Recognized with Multiple Awards
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (August 25, 2025) -- In late July, West Palm Beach Police Explorer Alexandra "Lexi" Bakopolous-Garcia attended the week-long Explorer Academy at Camp Tana Keetah, a military-style training program designed to develop leadership, discipline, and teamwork among young men and women interested in law enforcement. Officers and deputies from agencies across South Florida, including members of the West Palm Beach Police Department staff the Academy.
Out of 68 graduates, Lexi was honored with the Christine Braswell Warrior Award. This award, named in memory of Delray Beach Police Officer Christine Braswell—who tragically passed away in an automobile accident in 2017—is presented only when an Explorer exemplifies outstanding leadership, perseverance, and character. Officer Braswell was a respected drill instructor at the Academy, and the award stands as a tribute to her dedication and legacy.
The Explorer Academy challenges participants with early morning physical training, hands-on law enforcement exercises, and team-building activities, providing an immersive experience that helps shape future leaders.
In addition to this honor, Lexi was also recognized by the West Palm Beach Police Department's Explorer Post 148 with the Motivator Award, presented to the Explorer who best inspires and encourages their peers. The award was created by former Senior Advisor Officer Rick "Senior" Moore to recognize the member who exemplifies the spirit of teamwork, determination, and motivation within the post.
