West Palm Beach Police Department Announces Return of Police Explorer Program

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 24, 2025) – The West Palm Beach Police Department is proud to announce the return of its Police Explorer Program, which was paused in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This program, designed for teenagers interested in law enforcement careers, will once again provide young people in the community with hands-on experience and mentorship from local officers.

“We are thrilled to relaunch this program and once again offer local teens the opportunity to learn about law enforcement in an engaging and meaningful way,” said Arthur J. Faden, Police Explorer Program senior advisor. “The Police Explorer Program is an excellent way for young individuals to develop leadership skills, gain insight into policing, and build relationships within their community.”

The Police Explorer Program is open to young adults aged 14 to 21, providing them with real-world exposure to police work, including ride-alongs, training exercises, and community service opportunities. Participants will have the chance to work alongside officers, learn about the various divisions within the department, and develop valuable life and career skills.

“The program not only prepares young people for potential careers in law enforcement, but it also fosters a strong sense of civic responsibility and teamwork,” said Tony Araujo, Chief of the West Palm Beach Police Department. “We encourage any teen with an interest in public service to apply and take advantage of this opportunity.”

Applications for the program are now open, and the first meeting will be held on April 1, 2025, in the community room at the West Palm Beach Police Department.
