Mr. Ogundipe, a senior originally from Nigeria, experienced over a year of homelessness after a series of unexpected hardships, including the loss of a family member and the loss of employment. These challenges left him financially unstable and unable to afford permanent housing.
Like many individuals experiencing homelessness, unforeseen life events disrupted the progress he had worked hard to build after immigrating to the United States in search of opportunity and a better future.
During this time, Mr. Ogundipe remained actively engaged with services at St. Ann Place (SAP), where he accessed daily meals, showers, assistance with obtaining identification and documentation, and ongoing support. The City of West Palm Beach’s Homeless Outreach Team partnered closely with SAP throughout this process, helping ensure Mr. Ogundipe stayed connected to services while staff worked toward identifying a housing solution.
Through these coordinated efforts, Mr. Ogundipe was successfully housed through Palm Beach County’s No Acuity Program. He moved into affordable shared housing in West Palm Beach and officially received his keys last week, marking an important milestone in his journey toward stability.
Throughout his experience, Mr. Ogundipe remained deeply connected to his community. He stayed active in his faith community, serving as a drummer at his church, where he found encouragement, mentorship, and positive support. He also volunteered his time and consistently treated others with kindness and respect.
Mr. Ogundipe played an active role in his own progress. He worked diligently to gather required documentation, including his Social Security card and bank statements, maintained consistent communication with outreach staff, and followed through on each step needed to move the process forward. His patience, humility, and determination were instrumental in achieving this outcome.
Today, Mr. Ogundipe is settling into his new home and beginning a new chapter. His story reflects the power of persistence, community support, and strong collaboration between outreach teams, community partners, and individuals working toward housing stability.
