West Palm Beach Fire Department Conducts Successful Live Fire Training Exercise

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (June 3, 2026) – The West Palm Beach Fire Department (WPBFD) successfully conducted a live fire training exercise on Tuesday, June 2, at 612 and 614 2nd Street, providing firefighters with valuable hands-on experience in fire suppression, rescue techniques, and emergency operations.

The full-scale training was conducted in abandoned residential structures slated for demolition. Through a partnership with the property owner, the City was able to utilize the buildings for realistic, controlled training scenarios designed to strengthen operational readiness and firefighter safety.

Throughout the day, WPBFD personnel participated in a series of live burn evolutions and coordinated response exercises under strict safety protocols. The training allowed crews to sharpen critical skills in a realistic environment while reinforcing teamwork, communication, and tactical decision-making.

“These types of exercises are essential to ensuring our firefighters are prepared to respond quickly, safely, and effectively when real emergencies occur,” said West Palm Beach Fire Department Chief Diana Matty. “Training in realistic conditions strengthens our department’s ability to protect lives, property, and the community we serve.”

The live fire exercise reflects the West Palm Beach Fire Department’s ongoing commitment to preparedness, operational excellence, and public safety. By conducting realistic, hands-on training in controlled environments, WPBFD continues to strengthen its ability to respond effectively to emergencies and protect the residents, businesses, and neighborhoods of West Palm Beach.
