West Palm Beach Fire Department to Conduct Live Fire Training Exercises

on 2nd Street June 15 – 16, 2026

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (June 15, 2026) – The West Palm Beach Fire Department (WPBFD) will conduct live fire training exercises on Monday, June 15 and Tuesday, June 16 on 2nd Street between North Rosemary Avenue and North Sapodilla Avenue.

The exercises will take place between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. each day and will provide firefighters with valuable hands-on experience in fire suppression, rescue techniques, ventilation operations, and coordinated emergency response.

The training will be conducted in abandoned residential structures slated for demolition. Through a partnership with the property owner, the City has been able to utilize the buildings for realistic, controlled training scenarios designed to strengthen operational readiness and firefighter safety.

During the exercises, residents in the surrounding area may observe smoke, flames, fire apparatus, and firefighter activity. Noise associated with training operations and equipment should also be expected. All training activities will be conducted under strict safety standards and in accordance with established fire service training protocols.

For the safety of firefighters, the public, and media representatives, the training area will be secured throughout the operation. Members of the public are asked to avoid the immediate area and follow all posted safety instructions.

For media inquiries, please contact Assistant Fire Chief Jim Gribble at 561-718-9627.  This is a training exercise and the media is being notified as a courtesy. Media access to the training site will not be permitted during the exercises.
