West Palm Beach Fire Department Launches Third Annual Jr. Alerts Program

Empowers local youth through leadership, teamwork, and hands-on fire service training

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (June 29, 2026) — The West Palm Beach Fire Department has launched its third annual Jr. Alerts Program, proudly welcoming local teenagers for a summer of leadership development, mentorship and hands-on learning designed to inspire the next generation of community leaders.

The program kicked off on June 22 at Fire Station 3 in Northwood Harbor, where students from the Florence De George Boys & Girls Club returned for another year. For the first time, participants from the Max M. Fisher Boys & Girls Club also joined the program, expanding its reach to serve even more local youth.

Throughout the summer, participants will gain firsthand exposure to the fire service while building valuable life skills through activities focused on leadership, responsibility, discipline, teamwork and community service. The program includes hands-on firefighting demonstrations, CPR and emergency preparedness training, physical fitness, mentorship from West Palm Beach firefighters and opportunities to give back to the community.

"This program is about more than firefighting, it's about developing future leaders and strengthening our community through mentorship and service," said Captain Brandon Simmons, with the West Palm Beach Fire Department. "Expanding the program to a second Boys & Girls Club reflects our department's commitment to investing in the next generation while living our Community First mission."

The Jr. Alerts Program reflects the West Palm Beach Fire Department's ongoing commitment to community engagement and youth development, creating meaningful connections between firefighters and the young people they serve while encouraging participants to become engaged, responsible members of the community.
