West Palm Beach Police Warn of Fraud Scheme Involving Impersonation of Bank Representatives
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (May 14, 2026) — The West Palm Beach Police Department is investigating a fraud incident in which a victim reported losing $1,000 after being contacted by individuals posing as bank representatives.
In late March, the victim reported receiving a phone call from an unknown male claiming to be with her bank’s fraud department. The caller told the victim there was suspicious activity on her account and instructed her that a bank representative would come to her residence to collect and “recycle” her debit card.
Shortly after the call, an unknown female arrived at the victim’s home, took possession of the debit card, cut it in half and left the location. The victim later discovered an unauthorized $1,000 withdrawal from her savings account.
The suspects are described as an unknown male caller and an unknown Hispanic female, approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall with a thin build, who was wearing business-style clothing and a face mask at the time of the incident.
The victim has reported the fraudulent transaction to her bank, and the investigation is ongoing.
Police remind residents that financial institutions will not send representatives to collect debit or credit cards from a residence. Anyone who receives similar requests should not provide personal or financial information and should contact their bank directly using verified contact information.
Anyone with additional information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County at 1-800-458-8477or visit the Crime Stoppers website.
