West Palm Beach Police Department Strengthens Leadership Through Advanced Command Training

 

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (June 15, 2026) — The West Palm Beach Police Department announces that Lt. Jeremy Banks has completed the Southern Police Institute's Command Officer Development Course at the University of Louisville.

The intensive 400-hour professional development program prepares mid- and upper-level law enforcement leaders to address the complex administrative, operational, and strategic challenges facing modern policing.

"Strong leadership is critical to the continued success of our department," said Deputy Chief Tony Shearer. "Lt. Banks' completion of this program reflects his commitment to professional growth and strengthens our organization's ability to address complex challenges, develop future leaders, and deliver exceptional service to our community. The curriculum focuses on evidence-based policing, intelligence-led strategies, organizational leadership, budgeting, legal liability, policy development, and performance management. Participants also receive advanced instruction in strategic planning, problem-solving, personnel management, risk assessment, and organizational communications.

The course also emphasizes ethical leadership, accountability, and compliance with federal personnel requirements, including recruitment, promotion, discipline, retention, and employee relations.

Banks' successful completion of the program reflects the department's ongoing commitment to leadership development, professional excellence, and delivering the highest level of service to the West Palm Beach community.
