Northwood / Pleasant City
The Northwood/Pleasant City Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) District, administered by the West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, encompasses approximately 459 acres in the northern section of West Palm Beach. The district includes several distinct subareas—Northwood Village, Pleasant City, the Broadway Corridor, the Currie Corridor, and an industrial area—each targeted for strategic revitalization and economic development. Through coordinated communication initiatives, business incentive programs, infrastructure investments, and public-private partnerships, the CRA has supported the transformation of Northwood Village into a vibrant commercial destination while promoting increased homeownership and neighborhood stability in Pleasant City. Current redevelopment efforts focus on advancing mixed-use opportunities within the Currie Corridor, enhancing walkability and redevelopment potential along Broadway, and leveraging tax increment financing (TIF) revenues to fund catalytic projects that strengthen the district’s economic base, urban design, and long-term community sustainability.
Within the Northwood/Pleasant City CRA District are five target areas which are listed below. Individual projects are then broken-down within each sub-district with funding appropriated to each project. Target project areas are listed in order based on the funding direction from the CRA Board. All areas are a priority. The list of target project areas illustrates the current areas and projects receiving resources.
