Two West Palm Beach Public Schools Receive FPL Grants to Boost STEM Programs
Recently, Mayor Keith A. James joined Roosevelt Community Middle School and Westward Elementary School educators in receiving STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) classroom makeover awards. FPL says the $50,000 grants are awarded to “update technology to a 21st century learning environment.”
“These philanthropic initiatives and grants are investments in a brighter future for our children and the community. I am grateful to FPL’s commitment to education through its charitable arm, the NextEra Energy Foundation,” said Mayor Keith James.
FPL’s classroom grants are open to all K-12 public schools and eligible private and charter schools within FPL’s service area. The grants are designated for Title 1 student populations with at least 40% economically disadvantaged students.
National Bike Month | May 2025
"West Palm Beach residents are among the 55-million Americans who participate in cycling daily throughout the year. Cycling is a viable and environmentally-friendly form of recreation and transportation, with the number of people biking to work doubling in the last 25 years alone. This increase in cycling means cycling infrastructure and safety have become a priority.
The City of West Palm Beach remains on the leading edge of bike safety and is updating its Bicycle Masterplan, with a goal of expanding the network of safe, equitable, and accessible bike routes.
As Mayor, I am dedicated to maintaining a bicycle-friendly community that improves health, wellbeing, and overall quality of life for our residents and visitors. I, Keith A. James, Mayor of the City of West Palm Beach, do hereby proclaim May 2025 as National Bicycle Month."
— Mayor Keith A. James
