Clean Streets Task Force Earns National Award for Keeping West Palm Beach Beautiful
Since its launch in 2021 by Mayor Keith A. James, the Clean Streets Task Force has made significant progress in improving the safety, cleanliness, and appearance of West Palm Beach. By tackling illegal dumping, abandoned vehicles, and litter, the Task Force has enhanced neighborhoods, parks, and streets citywide. The Clean Streets Task Force inspired the creation of the City’s Keep West Palm Beach Beautiful initiative which shares the Keep America Beautiful mission to inspire and educate people to take action every day to improve and beautify their communities.
This initiative’s success has earned national recognition: the City was awarded the 2024 Keep America Beautiful Innovation Award, a testament to its commitment to maintaining vibrant, welcoming neighborhoods.
“The Clean Streets Task Force has become an essential part of maintaining and enhancing our neighborhoods,” said Mayor Keith A. James. “Their efforts, combined with the dedication of volunteers and community members, showcase our shared commitment to keeping West Palm Beach a beautiful and welcoming city for all.”

Here in Florida, we're surrounded by water — from swimming pools to the ocean, lakes, and canals. And with that, unfortunately, comes one of the highest drowning rates in the country, especially for young children. That's why it's so important to learn how to swim and why swimming lessons are offered at Gaines Park's Warren Hawkins Aquatic Center, 1501 North Australian Avenue.
