2026 Pepsi National Battle of the Bands
Mayor Keith A. James welcomed Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) dignitaries during a VIP reception for the 2026 Pepsi National Battle of the Bands. The HBCU representatives and bands were visiting Palm Beach County over the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday weekend for the competition. The reception took place at the City of West Palm Beach’s Sunset Lounge, a recently restored historic venue that once served as an important performance space for Black artists during the era of segregation.
"The National Battle of the Bands is more than a show. It is a celebration of legacy and creativity. It brings together students, families, alumni, and fans from across the country to experience an energy that is unmatched." — Mayor Keith A. James
2026 Leadership West Palm Beach | City Center Day
"Leadership West Palm Beach brings together a group of individuals who are not only successful in their own fields but who also care deeply about this community and strive to make a difference.
Over the coming months, these individuals will gain exposure to local government, business, arts and culture, and the many systems that help a city function and grow.
My hope is that this experience challenges them to think bigger — about their roles as leaders, about how decisions get made, and about how each of them can help shape the future of our City and region.
Leadership West Palm Beach is not just an investment they are making in themselves — but an investment they are making in our City.
Many graduates of this program have gone on to serve on boards, lead organizations, start businesses, and even work right here in City Hall.
As Mayor, one of my top priorities is creating a community of opportunity for all — a city where people from every background and every neighborhood have the tools, access, and support they need to succeed. That is why programs like Leadership West Palm Beach play such a vital role in bringing that vision to fruition.
We start with the individual, empowering them to chart their own path toward pervasive impact." — Mayor Keith A. James
