Through its Housing and Community Development (HCD) Department’s Community Services Team, the City of West Palm Beach continues it's efforts to enhance the quality of life for residents by developing housing, social, and economic opportunities. In collaboration with multiple social service providers, City staff work to connect individuals with the resources and support needed to achieve stability and self-sufficiency.
Mr. Baldwin, a kind and soft-spoken senior, recently experienced homelessness following unexpected life circumstances that disrupted his housing stability. After facing these challenges, he connected with services at St. Ann Place (SAP), where he began accessing essential resources and support.
While engaged at SAP, Mr. Baldwin utilized daily services such as meals, showers, and clothing, and received assistance with obtaining identification and applying for benefits. Through this connection, he was referred to the City of West Palm Beach’s Housing and Community Development (HCD) Department, where he remained actively engaged in services and committed to improving his situation.
The City’s Homeless Outreach Team worked in close partnership with SAP to ensure Mr. Baldwin remained supported and connected to the resources he needed while staff worked to identify a permanent housing solution. Through the coordinated efforts of SAP, HCD, and the Housing Stabilization Program (HSP), Mr. Baldwin was able to navigate the housing process despite a few challenges along the way.
As a result of these collaborative efforts, Mr. Baldwin was successfully placed into safe, stable, and affordable senior housing community. He recently received his keys, marking a significant milestone and the beginning of a new chapter focused on stability, independence, and improved well-being.
Mr. Baldwin expressed sincere appreciation for the support he received throughout the process and is looking forward to settling into his new home. His story highlights the importance of strong partnerships, compassionate outreach, and coordinated services in helping individuals transition from homelessness to housing stability.
