A Vision for a People-First Waterfront
"The City of West Palm Beach has a unique and defining opportunity to shape the future of its waterfront.
We are exploring an early-stage vision for a more connected, accessible, and engaging waterfront — guided directly by resident feedback from years of public engagement.
This vision focuses on expanding green space, improving access to the water, and strengthening the connection between the waterfront and downtown — all while preserving it as public space for residents to enjoy year-round.
These ideas did not originate in a boardroom. They came from residents who spoke clearly about their desire for a more vibrant, welcoming waterfront.
The City is in the early stages of exploring what is possible, including a $30 million private investment from Related Ross to support public space and infrastructure and help reduce the burden on taxpayers.
No decisions have been made, and no timeline has been set. Any future proposal will move through a transparent public process, with continued opportunities for community input.
This is about creating a waterfront that reflects our community — now and for generations to come." — Mayor Keith A. James

Their dedication, passion, and daily commitment help make our library a welcoming space for learning, connection, and discovery. From providing essential resources to supporting lifelong education, they truly make a difference in the lives of our residents and visitors.

The City Celebrates Upcoming National Arbor Day with an Official Proclamation, Native Tree Giveaway & Continued Investment in Urban Canopy
The City of West Palm Beach is celebrating National Arbor Day, observed on April 24, with a series of initiatives aimed at expanding and protecting the community’s urban tree canopy.
“On Arbor Day, we are reminded of the vital role trees play in shaping a healthier, more resilient West Palm Beach. From improving air quality and reducing heat to supporting wildlife and enhancing the beauty of our neighborhoods, trees are essential to our environment and our quality of life.
As a proud Tree City USA community, we remain committed to preserving and expanding our urban canopy for future generations. I encourage all residents to take part in this tradition by planting trees and continuing to invest in a greener, more sustainable, resilient, and livable city." — Mayor Keith A. James
Special Jazz Jam Session at the Sunset Lounge
"Yesterday, we were honored to host a special Jam Session at the Sunset Lounge, featuring the Stephen Scott Trio. The evening brought together local students and professional musicians to share the stage, celebrate the rich tradition of jazz, and create something truly spontaneous.
We also welcomed special guests from the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, including the legendary Wynton Marsalis. This unforgettable night was part of the Jazz at Lincoln Center residency, presented by the Society of the Four Arts and the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.
Thank you to our partners at The Society of the Four Arts and Kravis Center for the Performing Arts for their vision, support, and continued commitment to bringing world-class arts and educational opportunities to our community. Your partnership makes evenings like this possible!" — Mayor Keith A. James
Behind the Scenes: Safer Workspaces, Smarter Investments
"The City’s Public Works Department has invested more than $3 million in Fleet Division upgrades designed to improve workplace safety, increase efficiency, and reduce long-term costs.
The most significant improvement is the completion of a new fuel island and above-ground fuel tanks — a critical investment that strengthens fuel management, improves reliability, enhances environmental safety, and supports better tracking and accountability while reducing downtime.
Additional upgrades, including improved ventilation to reduce heat stress and new in-house maintenance equipment, further minimize risk, lower outsourcing costs, and streamline operations.
Together, these behind-the-scenes investments ensure a safer work environment for employees and smarter, more cost-effective service delivery for our community.”
— Mayor Keith A. James
Urban Land Institute (ULI) West Palm Beach Forum 2026 with the Downtown Development Authority
"I was pleased to take part io the Leading Through Collaboration: Strengthening the Model American City fireside chat with Related Ross' Executive Vice President Jordan Bargas. We discussed how philanthropy and mission-driven partners play a critical role alongside the public and private sectors to shape stronger, more resilient communities.
Leadership today is about connection — aligning public, private, and philanthropic partners around a shared vision. As the Mayor of this City, I have learned to think less about individual projects and more about long-term outcomes for residents. It is true that growth is easy to pursue, but inclusive, lasting growth requires discipline and intentionality.” — Mayor Keith A. James
