Vegetation Amnesty Days | April 27 – May 8, 2026
The City of West Palm Beach is preparing for hurricane season with Vegetation Amnesty Days, taking place now through May 8, 2026.
During this time, residents may place unlimited vegetative waste curbside at no additional cost on their regularly scheduled yard waste pickup day. Accepted materials include grass clippings, leaves, shrubbery, and cut tree limbs.
This initiative supports a citywide cleanup to help keep storm drains clear and reduce flooding risks during summer storms.
Guidelines:
• Place waste curbside no earlier than the day before pickup
• Keep materials in a single pile
• Bag small debris such as leaves and clippings
• Cut limbs to 4 feet or less (trunks no more than 12 inches in diameter)
• Do not mix yard waste with other debris
Please note: Pruning trees and palm trees in preparation for the hurricane season should include the removal of dead, diseased, or weak branches. Pruning shall not include topping, hat-racking, overlifting, lion tailing, or shaping in unnatural forms as this type of pruning makes the trees more susceptible to wind damage and is in violation of the City’s Land Development Code.
Vegetation Amnesty Days do not apply to commercial properties or contractors. This is for West Palm Beach residents ONLY.

Project Update: U.S. 1 Resurfacing Improvements Begin This May
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is set to begin a roadway improvement project along U.S. 1 (S.R. 5), from Belvedere Road to south of Okeechobee Boulevard, starting May 4, 2026. This $3.9 million investment will enhance safety, mobility, and long-term resilience along one of West Palm Beach’s key corridors.
Planned upgrades include roadway resurfacing, improved sidewalks and ADA-accessible curb ramps, enhanced lighting, upgraded signage, and new pedestrian safety features like a mid-block crosswalk.
Residents and commuters can expect periodic lane closures, primarily during off-peak hours, with access to homes and businesses maintained throughout construction. The project is anticipated to be completed by Spring 2027. Read more information about the project here.
Any planned detours will be shared in the City's weekly Road and Dock Report.
