The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) will perform an emergency grade crossing repairs this weekend on westbound Okeechobee Boulevard. Okeechobee Boulevard will be closed from just west of Parker Avenue/Tamarind Avenue to traffic and pedestrians from 11 p.m. Saturday, May 9, through 7 a.m. Sunday, May 10. Motorists should follow posted detours.
The City of West Palm Beach is preparing for hurricane season by offering Vegetation Amnesty Days through Friday, May 8, 2026. During this time, residents can dispose of vegetative waste at no additional cost, as the service charge will be waived. This includes grass clippings, leaves, trees, shrubbery cuttings or trimmings, and broken or cut tree limbs and logs. Residential property ONLY.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (February 19, 2026) — The West Palm Beach Police and Fire Rescue Departments responded to the 300 block of Lakeview Ave. around 7:10 a.m.
First responders determined construction scaffolding collapsed injuring four individuals. The injured were transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The 300 block of Lakeview Ave. was briefly closed as a result of the incident.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
