CITY OF WEST PALM BEACH LAUNCHES NEW

TOOL TO HELP SMALL BUSINESSES SUCCEED

SizeUp West Palm Beach provides free market research to foster local entrepreneurship

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (September 11, 2025) – The City of West Palm Beach will officially launch SizeUp West Palm Beach —a free online platform that delivers powerful market research and business intelligence to entrepreneurs and small businesses— on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 10 a.m. with an informative webinar. Local business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs are invited to join the webinar by registering here.

National data shows that about 20% of small businesses fail in their first year, and roughly half close within five years (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics). Research from Entrepreneur and Investopedia cites lack of preparation —such as limited market analysis, weak business planning, and marketing mistakes— as one of the primary drivers of failure.

SizeUp West Palm Beach helps address these challenges by giving entrepreneurs access to professional-grade, hyperlocal business data once reserved for large corporations. With the tool, users can:

  • Discover potential customers and suppliers to grow their business

  • Optimize advertising and marketing to ideal customers

  • Analyze the characteristics and spending of consumers in the area

  • Validate or reject their assumptions about the future business performance based on objective industry data

  • Rank their industry performance across multiple measurements

“Small businesses and entrepreneurs are the foundation of our local economy. Having practiced as a small business attorney, I know firsthand how critical it is to have reliable information before making big decisions. By providing free access to professional-grade market research and insights, the City of West Palm Beach is giving our entrepreneurs the tools to reduce risk, make smart, data-driven choices, and position themselves for growth. After all, today’s small businesses are tomorrow’s major employers, and their success strengthens our entire community,” said Mayor Keith A. James.

The software powering SizeUp West Palm Beach won 1st Place from the U.S. Department of Commerce for a business app that helps American businesses be more competitive, improve their success, foster prosperity, and create more jobs.

SizeUp West Palm Beach is live and accessible now at www.wpb.org/sizeup. For more information, contact the City of West Palm Beach’s Office of Economic Development at (561) 822-1416 or ecd@wpb.org.
