2026 Grassy Waters Preserve Photography Contest Open
Annual Contest Open to Amateur photographers
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Calling all amateur nature photographers - the 2026 Grassy Waters Preserve Photography Contest is open through February 28, 2026. The annual event draws hundreds of entries showcasing the natural beauty of the City’s unique and pristine nature preserve.
Grassy Waters, located off Northlake Boulevard, is a 23-square-mile wetland, considered to be the northern edge of the Everglades. Photos could have been taken this year or in previous years. The only requirement is the photo must have been taken by an amateur photographer within the Grassy Waters boundaries.

There is no entry fee to visit the five trails and Nature Center within Grassy Waters. City residents and visitors may also join one of the many guided kayaking or canoe tours for a minimal cost.
The contest is sponsored by the Grassy Waters Conservancy. There is a $10 fee for each entry. All proceeds go to support programs, exhibits, and other educational initiatives at Grassy Waters Preserve. Also, this year, there is a youth category where photographers under age 18 may submit up to three photos for free.
Click on this link for additional information on the contest. All entries become royalty-free and are available for use by Grassy Waters, the City of West Palm Beach and the Grassy Waters Conservancy and may be used for promotional material. A professional photographer will judge entries. Winning photographs will be revealed at an opening reception at the Grassy Waters Nature Center on March 27, 2026. The winning photographs will be displayed in the Nature Center for one year. After the display, the winning photographers will have the opportunity to take their matted prints.
Entries are posted to the contest website where they can be viewed and votes cast for the special “People’s Choice” winner. Votes are $1 each as a tax-deductible contribution to the Grassy Waters Conservancy. Voting ends on March 6, 2026.
The Nature Center staff will select one of the entries to be made into a postcard available for free at the Nature Center.
