West Palm Beach City Commission Meeting and Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Meeting Approvals and Decisions

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (July 7, 2026) – Below is a summary of the approvals and decisions made by the City Commission meeting on Monday, July 6, 2026.

MAYOR’S OFFICE – Mayor Keith A. James presented a tribute to Robert Sanders, for his distinguished career as a public servant to the residents of West Pal, Beach. Mr. Sanders served as a Deputy City Attorney, Deputy City Administrator, and City Administrator where he helped lead many of the City’s most transformative redevelopment initiatives, including the Palm Beach County Convention Center, redevelopment of the former West Palm Beach Auditorium, and the creation of CityPlace.

Mayor James also presented a tribute to former Mayor and City Commissioner Richard V. Reikenis. He served as the Mayor and as a City Commissioner from 1985 to 1989. He remained active after leaving office, serving on the West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority from 2017 through 2026.

Approved an ordinance after second reading amending and restating the public art program by amending and relocating the provisions of Chapter 78, Article V (Public Art), Section 78-10 (Monuments), and Section 94-410 (Murals), and creating Chapter 43 (Public Art).

Approved the appointments of Craig Glover, Daryl K. Houston, Kasia Marczyk and Jordan Rathlev to the Downtown Development Authority.

CITY ATTORNEY – Approved a resolution approving a Settlement Agreement totaling $330,000 in the matter of James Rothgery, employee/claimant v. City of West Palm Beach and Corvel Enterprise Comp, Inc.; approved a resolution authorizing the assessment of City liens in the total amount of $14,992.37 for unpaid water service, sewer service, and stormwater charges for the month of March 2026.

DEVELOPMENT SERVICES – Approved a resolution authorizing the installation of streetscape improvements within the public rights-of-way, accepting maintenance responsibility for a portion of right-of-way along South Dixie Highway; approving the Maintenance Memorandum of Agreement between the Florida Department of Transportation and the City, and approving the Right-of-Way Maintenance Agreements between Woodfield-Flagler 8111 Retail Owner, LLC and the City; approved an ordinance after second public hearing  on a City-initiated request for a text amendment to Chapter 94 Zoning and Land Development Regulations, Article VII - Special Districts, Section 94-219 - Broadway mixed-use district to clarify provisions regarding the development of townhomes; and Section 94-215 - Currie mixed-use district to modify the height bonus incentive requirements for improvements to Currie Park; approved an ordinance after first public hearing approving a voluntary annexation of approximately 8.54 acres of land located at 5710 North Haverhill Road; approved an ordinance after first public hearing amending the Future Land Use map of the Comprehensive Plan of the City of West Palm Beach by assigning a Future Land Use designation of Multifamily to approximately 8.54 acres of land annexed into the City, located at 5710 North Haverhill Road; approved an ordinance after first public hearing amending the Zoning Map of the City of West Palm Beach by assigning a zoning designation of Multifamily 32 to approximately 8.54 acres of land annexed into the City, located at 5710 North Haverhill Road; approved an ordinance after first public hearing on a City-initiated request declaring a Zoning in Progress for a period of six (6) months to prevent the submittal of Planned Development applications for properties zoned Multifamily High Density (MF32) residential located South of Monroe Drive, north of Southern Boulevard, west of Flagler Drive, and east of Washington Road.

FIRE DEPARTMENT – Approved a pair of companion resolutions, the first accepting an Emergency Medical Services grant from Palm Beach County in an amount not to exceed $21,638.46 for reimbursement for the purchase of Fire Emergency Medical Equipment; and the companion resolution  approving the receipt and appropriation of funds from the interlocal agreement between Palm Beach County and the City of West Palm Beach in an amount not to exceed $21,638.46 for reimbursement of Fire Emergency Medical Equipment.

MANDEL PUBLIC LIBRARY – Approved a pair of companion resolutions, the first ratifying the acceptance of a grant and execution of the grant agreement by the Mayor from the State of Florida, Department of State Division of Library and Information Services for a Library Services and Technology Act grant in the amount of $75,287; and the companion resolution appropriating funding in the amount of $75,287 from the Florida Department of State Division of Library and Information Services to purchase needed Library archive materials, supplies, and resources.

PUBLIC UTILITIES – Approved a resolution appropriating $700,000 from the Public Utilities Series 2017A Water & Sewer Construction Fund for the water main improvements in connection with the Alhambra Place Improvements (Olive Avenue to the cul-de-sac).

Below is a complete list of approvals and decisions made at the Monday, July 6, 2026, Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) meeting.

Approved a resolution approving an extension of services with Biederman Redevelopment Ventures to implement the Currie Park Placemaking Plan.

Approved a resolution authorizing the conveyance of the property at 519 LA Kirksey to Habitat for Humanity for the purposes of affordable housing.
