West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Agency Continues Safety Enhancements
CRA launches new mobile CCTV trailers in partnership with West Palm Beach Police Department
WEST PALM BEACH, FL (July 14, 2026) - The West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is proud to introduce four portable Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) trailers as the next step in its commitment to cutting-edge public safety enhancements. The state-of-the-art mobile surveillance units will be strategically positioned throughout the Historic Northwest and Downtown districts to enhance safety, reduce criminal activity, and support ongoing redevelopment efforts. The program is in partnership with the City of West Palm Beach Police Department.
“By combining innovative technology with proactive policing strategies, the CRA and the City of West Palm Beach are investing in tools that enhance public safety, support law enforcement efforts, and contribute to the continued revitalization of the Historic Northwest and Downtown districts,” said Mayor Keith A. James. “This initiative represents a major step forward in the City's vision for a safer, smarter, and more vibrant community while helping deter criminal activity and improve situational awareness.”
The mobile CCTV trailers are equipped with high-definition cameras that provide valuable investigative support and can be accessed by the West Palm Beach Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center when needed. The units also feature GPS technology and public address capabilities, allowing them to serve as flexible public safety resources that can be strategically deployed throughout the community.
“Public safety is our top priority,” said West Palm Beach Chief of Police Tony Araujo. “As highly visible public security assets, the portable CCTV trailers serve as a strong crime deterrent while giving law enforcement real-time situational awareness and advanced investigative tools. We are glad to use these devices as a force multiplier, with technology extending our staff's reach and allowing resources to be allocated more efficiently.”
This investment reflects the CRA’s continued support for innovative solutions that promote both public safety and economic vitality. Earlier this year, the CRA announced several safety enhancement programs aimed at deterring crime, supporting local businesses, and improving residents' quality of life. The initiatives have been well received by residents and business owners, many of whom report a noticeable impact on crime deterrence and reduction. Other enhancements include increased safety patrols, additional community engagement opportunities, and a separate CCTV grant for business owners.
To maximize the effectiveness of this public safety initiative and support ongoing security efforts, the specific deployment locations and schedule of the mobile CCTV trailers will not be announced or publicly disclosed in advance. Residents, businesses, neighborhood associations, and community organizations are encouraged to report suspicious activity — if you see something, say something. In an emergency, always call 911. For non-emergency concerns, such as suspicious activity, delayed accidents, or noise complaints, contact the West Palm Beach Police Department's 24/7 non-emergency dispatch line at (561) 822-1900.
