L to R: WPB PD Detective Katherine Smith, Assistant State Attorney Freddelle Menard, Mayor Keith A. James, WPB Director of Housing and Community Development Jade Greene & WPB PD Sergeant James Louis
United Against Hate Week | October 18 – 24, 2026
“October 18–24, 2026, marks United Against Hate Week, a time to reaffirm our commitment to building a community where everyone feels safe, respected, and welcome.
West Palm Beach is strengthened by its diversity, and we must continue to stand together against hate, bias, and intolerance in all forms.
Each of us has a responsibility to lead with kindness, speak up for our neighbors, and help create a city where everyone belongs. Hate has no place in West Palm Beach—not this week, not any week.” — Mayor Keith A. James
At the October 13, 2026, City Commission meeting, Mayor Keith A. James presented a proclamation for United Against Hate Week. The proclamation was accepted by Assistant State Attorney Freddelle Menard, representing the Office of State Attorney Alexcia Cox; Director of Housing and Community Development Jade Greene; and West Palm Beach Police Department Sergeant James Louis and Detective Katherine Smith.
Cox Science Center & Aquarium 65th Anniversary Celebration and Founders’ Day
“For 65 years, the Cox Science Center and Aquarium has inspired young minds, advanced science education, promoted conservation, and brought science to life for generations of students, teachers, and families.
From its beginnings as the Junior Museum of Palm Beach County to its continued growth and transformational expansion, this treasured educational and cultural institution has made learning accessible and engaging for people of all ages.
On behalf of the City of West Palm Beach, I was proud to recognize this milestone with an official proclamation declaring October 21, 2026, as Cox Science Center & Aquarium Day.
Thank you to Kurt Allen for his leadership and invitation to celebrate this special occasion, the Pine Crest School choir for its wonderful performance, Isaac Nelson for reminding us of the bright future of science, and the founders, trustees, donors, educators, staff, and volunteers whose dedication has sustained this remarkable institution for 65 years. Congratulations on this extraordinary legacy and the exciting future ahead!” — Mayor Keith A. James
L to R: Mayor Keith A. James, WPB Firefighter of the Year Nicholas Harmueller, and Chief Diana Matty
Firefighter Awards Breakfast | Friday, October 16, 2026
“Public safety has been my top priority since taking office, and as West Palm Beach has grown, we have remained committed to ensuring our Fire Department has the personnel, equipment, and resources needed to serve our community. We have invested more than $30 million in our fire fleet, expanded the department, and strengthened compensation and retirement benefits for our firefighters.
But what truly makes this department exceptional is the courage, professionalism, compassion, and dedication of the individuals who protect our residents every day.
On behalf of the City of West Palm Beach, our residents, and our City Commission, I extend my sincere gratitude to our firefighters and paramedics for their service and sacrifice, to the families who support them, and to Fire Chief Diana Matty for her outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to keeping our City safe.”
— Mayor Keith A. James
