West Palm Beach Police Arrest Second Suspect in June 2025 Homicide

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 20, 2026) — The West Palm Beach Police Department has arrested a second suspect in connection with a June 2025 homicide.

On June 15, 2025, around 4 a.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of Okeechobee Boulevard, where they found 30-year-old Jared Auer unresponsive in his vehicle with gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.

Detectives determined Auer was approached and shot while sitting in his car. Through investigative leads, detectives identified 43-year-old William Dunkley as a suspect. In early July 2025, a search warrant at his residence led to the recovery of the firearm used in the crime. Dunkley was arrested and charged with first-degree murder with a firearm and attempted armed robbery.

During the investigation, a second suspect, 44-year-old Donovan Woodbine, was also identified. With support from partnering agencies, Woodbine was located in Port St. Lucie and arrested on March 18, 2026.

“This case reflects the exceptional investigative work of our detectives, Crime Scene Investigations unit and the strong collaboration with our law enforcement partners,” said West Palm Beach Police Lt. William DeVito. “Through persistence and coordinated efforts, those responsible are being held accountable, and we are grateful to everyone who played a role in advancing this investigation.”

Weeks after the arrest of Dunkley, Auer’s family recognized Detectives Darrin MacCarthy and Aaron Sam for their work on the case.
