WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (February 16, 2026) — The West Palm Beach Police Department responded to a crash near the Fish Out of Water public art installation along N. Flagler Drive and Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
Responding officers made contact with the driver and passenger, who had been rescued from the submerged vehicle by a good Samaritan. Upon arrival, officers observed the vehicle fully submerged in the Intracoastal Waterway.
West Palm Beach Fire Rescue and the West Palm Beach Police Dive Unit responded to assist with medical evaluations and the recovery of the vehicle.
A bystander sustained injuries from crash-related debris and was transported to an area hospital. The driver was also transported to an area hospital for further medical evaluation.
The investigation is ongoing, and alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
