The City of West Palm Beach is preparing for hurricane season by offering Vegetation Amnesty Days from April 27 to May 8, 2026. During this time, residents can dispose of vegetative waste at no additional cost, as the service charge will be waived. This includes grass clippings, leaves, trees, shrubbery cuttings or trimmings, and broken or cut tree limbs and logs. Residential property ONLY.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 20, 2026) — West Palm Beach police responded to an incident along the 200 block of Clematis Street at approximately 2 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Responding officers determined an individual walking eastbound on Clematis Street was giving high-fives to passersby when he encountered 39-year-old Jeffery Morant. After receiving a high-five, Morant reacted negatively and accused the individual of assault. Morant, who was armed with a pocket knife, then pursued the individual.
The individual made contact with two officers in the 200 block of Clematis Street, who intervened and detained Morant without further incident.
Morant was transported to the Palm Beach County Jail without incident and faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, in accordance with Florida Statute 784.021(1)(a).
