At the June 22, 2026 City Commission Meeting, the Commission will consider a proposal to remove the current 80% discount on the City's Fire Service Assessment for nonprofit-owned institutional properties. This item is being brought forward following direction from the City Commission during a March 23, 2026 Mayor/Commission Work Session. Other Fire Service Assessment rates would remain unchanged.
West Palm Beach City Hall, the Mandel Public Library and the Grassy Waters Preserve Nature Center will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of federal Juneteenth National Independence Day. Grassy Waters Preserve Nature Center will reopen at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, and the Mandel Public Library reopens at 9:30 a.m. City Hall will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2026.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 30, 2026) — Around 9:30 a.m. the West Palm Beach Police responded to the 1300 block of Parker Ave following reports of an unattended vehicle.
Out of an abundance of caution, the West Palm Beach Police Department and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squads were called to the scene to conduct a more detailed assessment.
The investigation determined that the vehicle was carrying commercial grade fireworks and cleaning materials.
The investigation is closed.
