West Palm Beach City Hall, the Mandel Public Library and the Grassy Waters Preserve Nature Center will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day. Regular trash and garbage pickup services will be provided on a regular schedule. City Hall and Grassy Waters will reopen at 8 a.m., on Tuesday, May 26, 2026; the Mandel Public Library will open at 9:30 a.m.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (May 11, 2026) – The West Palm Beach Police Department responded to reports of a robbery along the 500 block of Fern Street around 9:35 a.m. on Friday, May 8.
Officers determined a suspect assaulted a victim on Fern Street, stole the victim’s cell phone, and fled into an alley.
During the investigation, detectives quickly identified and located 35-year-old Markevius Howard, who was taken into custody.
Howard is charged with robbery by sudden snatching and possession of cocaine. He was released from the Florida Department of Corrections on March 1, 2026, and has prior drug-related offenses.
The investigation is ongoing.
