“Don’t lie for the other guy.” Purchasing a firearm for someone who is prohibited from buying or possessing one is a federal crime that can result in up to 15 years in prison and significant fines. Do not risk your freedom by doing a favor for someone else. These purchases can place firearms in the hands of violent offenders and contribute to violent crime.
The West Palm Beach Police Department is proud to partner with our local, state, and federal agencies on this important initiative. This cooperative effort highlights the seriousness and legal consequences of purchasing a firearm for someone who cannot legally purchase one.
These partnerships have produced significant results in West Palm Beach, including arrests, federal indictments, the recovery of illegally possessed firearms, and investigative leads connected to violent crimes. Many of these cases remain active, so additional details cannot be released at this time.
Education campaigns like this help prevent illegal firearm purchases before they occur. Through partnerships like this, we continue working to make each of our communities a safer place to live, work, and visit.
