Police Department Host Three-Day Executive-Level Leadership Symposium

The West Palm Beach Police Department, in collaboration with Keiser University’s Flagship Campus, hosted a three-day Executive-Level Leadership Symposium led by the University of Chicago Crime Lab’s Police Leadership Academy.

The symposium brought together 38 law enforcement executives from agencies throughout Palm Beach and Martin County, including 14 members of the West Palm Beach Police Department.

The nationally recognized Police Leadership Academy is a grant-funded initiative that supports the continued development of command-level law enforcement leaders nationwide. Its rigorous, evidence-based curriculum is designed to strengthen management practices, enhance organizational effectiveness, and help reduce violent crime.

Held September 1–3 at Keiser University’s Flagship Campus, the symposium covered transformational leadership, officer wellness programs, gun violence reduction strategies, risk management, organizational change, succession planning, and sustaining long-term progress. The training was provided at no cost for participating agencies.

Rigorous and credible training opportunities, such as the Executive-Level Leadership Symposium, allow our agency to maintain its operational readiness,” said Deputy Chief Anthony Shearer. “As I’ve said before, we are developing our officers, creating opportunities for advancement, and ensuring we are prepared to provide the highest level of service to our community.”
