WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (May 7, 2026) — The West Palm Beach Police Department announces that Lt. Lori Colombino has successfully completed the Police Leadership Academy (PLA), an intensive, five-month executive development program conducted by the University of Chicago Crime Lab.
The PLA Police Commander Course is recognized nationwide for preparing senior-level professionals across law enforcement and public service. The curriculum emphasizes strategic leadership, public safety innovation, officer wellness, effective organizational communication, and building strong relationships with the communities served.
“Lieutenant Colombino’s successful completion of this program reflects the disciplined approach to leadership development we expect across our command staff,” said Deputy Chief of Police Tony Shearer. “Her growth through this experience strengthens our organization and positions us to continue moving forward with purpose, alignment, and a clear commitment to serving our community at the highest level.”
Lt. Colombino was selected from a competitive national applicant pool, with fewer than 40 participants admitted to each session.
The West Palm Beach Police Department will continue to apply the insights and best practices gained through this program to enhance leadership capacity and advance organizational effectiveness.
