Fire Department Family

11 new members of the West Palm Beach Fire Department

The West Palm Beach Fire Department welcomed 11 new firefighters into the ranks on Thursday, March 12, 2026, during a badge-pinning ceremony held at the Sunset Lounge. Each year, the City places recruits through rigorous training designed to prepare them for the demands of the fire service and to earn the privilege of wearing the department badge.

This training ensures that residents and visitors of West Palm Beach can rely on well-prepared firefighters who are ready to respond whenever they are called.

During the ceremony, Mayor Keith A. James and Fire Chief Diana Matty congratulated the new firefighters as family members and friends took part in the traditional badge pinning.

A meaningful milestone was recently recognized as more than a dozen members of the West Palm Beach Fire Department concluded distinguished careers in the fire service. These firefighters were honored during a retirement ceremony, where each retiree received a ceremonial axe engraved with his badge number in recognition of years of dedicated service.

Throughout their careers, these firefighters answered the call at all hours and in all conditions, serving the residents and visitors of West Palm Beach with professionalism, courage, and commitment. Their service and contributions to the department and the community leave a lasting legacy. We extend our sincere appreciation and congratulations as they begin the next chapter of their lives.
