Until Justice Just Is Day Proclamation
“Last week, Thursday, May 7, marked 'Until Justice Just Is' Day, sponsored by the YWCA of Palm Beach County, whose mission is to promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
I was proud to present this proclamation to officially recognize this day here in the City of West Palm Beach. We recognize the YWCA for its longstanding commitment to advancing equity in healthcare, childcare, housing, education, employment, and addressing racial and social justice, as well as preventing violence against women —issues that significantly impact the quality of life for women, children, and families throughout the City.
The strength and vitality of the City of West Palm Beach depend in great measure upon organizations like the YWCA that work to uplift and support diverse communities — encouraging individuals and businesses to take meaningful action to create a more inclusive community.” — Mayor Keith A. James
“Every year in May, we recognize a very serious disease and the importance of advocating for increased funding and providing support for those affected.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive fatal neurodegenerative disease in which a person's brain loses connection with their muscles, slowly reducing a person's ability to walk, talk, eat, and eventually breathe.
Every year, thousands of new amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) cases are reported, and estimates show that every 90 minutes, someone is diagnosed with ALS and someone passes away from ALS.
That is why securing access to new therapies, durable medical equipment, and communication technologies is of vital importance to people living with ALS.
Thank you to the ALS Association for their commitment to accelerating the pace of discovery, fueled by the hope that one day ALS will be a livable disease for everyone, everywhere, until a cure can be found.
ALS Awareness Month provides an opportunity to increase public awareness of the dire circumstances of people living with ALS, recognize the profound impact the disease has on individuals and their families, and support research to eradicate this disease.” — Mayor Keith A. James
