“It was truly an honor to celebrate the completion of Coleman Park Renaissance — a project that represents investment, dignity, opportunity, and a commitment to preserving the heart and history of this neighborhood.

I want to thank Neighborhood Renaissance, Inc. and Executive Director Terri Murray, along with the project partners, City Commission, Palm Beach County, and the residents and community leaders whose vision and commitment helped bring this project to life.

This project began with the community, built upon feedback from residents who shared their hopes for Coleman Park and their vision for a neighborhood that honors its past while creating opportunity for future generations.

Today, 43 affordable apartments for working families, seniors, and residents with special needs are available, as well as affordable commercial space for neighborhood businesses.

A development designed not just to house people, but to help sustain a community.

At a time when cities across the country are struggling with housing affordability, projects like this matter deeply. That is why I launched the 1,400 in 8 initiative — a commitment to create 1,400 affordable and workforce housing units during my eight years as Mayor.

Today, I am proud to say we have already surpassed that goal, with more than 1,500 units built or currently in the pipeline.

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave individuals who gave their lives while serving our country and protecting our freedoms. We also extend our gratitude to the veterans and active-duty military personnel who continue to serve our nation every day. 

In observance of Memorial Day, City Hall, the Grassy Waters Preserve Nature Center, and the Mandel Public Library will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026. Trash collection services will run as scheduled.

City Hall and the Nature Center will reopen on Tuesday, May 26, at 8 a.m., and the library will reopen at 9:30 a.m.

Please note: Grassy Waters Preserve's Cypress Boardwalk Trail will be closed on Memorial Day; however, all other trails will remain open during normal operating hours.

Earlier this month, Mayor Keith A. James officially proclaimed the week of May 17 – May 23, 2026, as National Public Works Week here in the City of West Palm Beach.

During the City Commission Meeting on Monday, May 11, in the mayor's absence, City Commissioner Christy Fox graciously presented the proclamation to the following individuals in honor of Public Works Week (L to R):

Upgrades to Infrastructure and Equipment 

Impressive infrastructure upgrades at the City of West Palm Beach keep things rolling. New fueling stations and equipment additions will keep the City's fleet of 700 vehicles ready to serve resident's needs and keep employees safe.

Preparing for Hurricane Season The Public Works team also took part in the City's annual Post-Storm Drill. This very realistic hurricane drill helps prepare West Palm Beach's first responders for any storms that may come our way this season.

While we all hope hurricanes stay far away from our area, the exercise is a good reminder that we should all take steps to protect ourselves. A new mobility service is coming to West Palm Beach!

As the City prepares to launch an upgraded transportation experience later this summer, the current RideWPB downtown fixed-route and on-demand service will conclude on May 31.

The new mobility network is designed to make getting around the City easier, faster, and more reliable — with expanded service coverage, improved technology, high-frequency routes, enhanced on-demand service, and sleek modern vehicles.

During the summer transition period, limited on-demand service will remain available through Rose Trolley and the DDA’s Circuit On-Demand service. Riders are encouraged to plan ahead and allow for additional travel time.

Additional details and rider information regarding the new mobility service will be shared ahead of the anticipated August launch.

Get a FREE 55‑Gallon Rain Barrel & Start Saving Water!

The City of West Palm Beach Office of Sustainability is giving away free rain barrels to help our community conserve water! Registration is required and open ONLY to City of West Palm Beach water customers (one rain barrel per household, lifetime of the property).

How It Works:

1. Register online | You must provide your City of West Palm Beach Water Account Number to complete registration. Registration closes May 25 at 8 a.m. or when capacity is reached.

2. If approved, you’ll receive a recorded rain barrel presentation with installation tips and safety information

3. After watching, submit a short follow‑up quiz (emailed to you)

4. Once confirmed, you’ll receive details about pick‑up time and location

5. Drive‑Thru Pick‑Up: May 28. We’ll load the barrel into your vehicle — just pull up and relax!
