Special Tributes During City Commission Meeting
Tribute to Richard V. Reikenis
"During this week's City Commission Meeting, we recognized Mr. Richard V. Reikenis, who has graciously served the City of West Palm Beach, its residents, and its business community for more than four decades through distinguished leadership in public service, engineering, and civic engagement.
Rick served the people of West Palm Beach as a City Commissioner and later as Mayor from 1985 to 1989, providing visionary leadership that helped guide the City's growth while strengthening its infrastructure and economic future.
More recently, he brought that same commitment to the West Palm Beach DDA, serving from 2017 through 2026, including as Vice Chairman from 2018 to 2020 and Chairman from 2021 to 2024. His leadership, expertise, and steadfast commitment to downtown revitalization helped advance the continued growth and prosperity of our City's urban core.
Rick, thank you for your unwavering dedication to public service, economic development, and the continued improvement of the City of West Palm Beach. Your leadership has left a lasting legacy that will continue to benefit residents, businesses, and visitors for generations to come." — Mayor Keith A. James

Tribute to Robert Sanders
"During the City Commission Meeting, we also recognized Mr. Robert Sanders with a tribute that was accepted by his son, Scott E. Sanders.
Throughout his career, Bob served the City of West Palm Beach as Deputy City Attorney, Deputy City Administrator, and City Administrator. In those roles, he helped lead many of the City's most transformative redevelopment initiatives, including the Palm Beach County Convention Center, the redevelopment of the former West Palm Beach Auditorium, and the creation of CityPlace.
In 1990, Bob also joined the DDA and later returned in 2014 to serve four consecutive three-year terms through 2026, including service as Chairman from 2018 to 2020 and Vice Chairman from 2024 to 2025.
Beyond his work with the City and the DDA, Bob has generously shared his time and expertise with numerous civic, charitable, and professional organizations throughout Palm Beach County, earning widespread respect for his commitment to strengthening our community and advancing the economic vitality of West Palm Beach.
Bob, thank you for your extraordinary vision, leadership, and dedication. Your decades of service have left an enduring legacy on our City, our downtown, and the countless residents, businesses, and organizations that have benefited from your commitment." — Mayor Keith A. James

The next scheduled City Commission meeting is Monday, July 20, 2026, at 5 p.m. in City Hall, 401 Clematis Street.
Commission meetings are held every other Monday, except for holidays, and the public is encouraged to attend.
