Welcome to the TIC! Where ideas become projects—and projects come to life.

The Technology & Innovation Center is your hub for digital production, hands‑on making, and creative experimentation. From virtual reality and sound recording to 3D printing, laser cutting, media digitization, digital art, animation, and film production, each station offers professional tools and guided support to help you expand your skills and bring your projects from concept to completion.

  • The Technology & Innovation Center (TIC) is designated for patrons age 16 and older with a Mandel Public Library card in good standing. (Computer‑use cards are not eligible.)
  • Children ages 13–15 may use the TIC only when accompanied by a parent or guardian age 18 or older, with one caregiver required per underage visitor.

TIC General Usage Guidelines

General Usage Guidelines

  • Age Requirements:
    • The TIC is designated for use by persons age 16 and older with a valid library card in good standing from the Mandel Public Library. (Computer use cards are not applicable).
    • Children ages 13-15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (18 and over) at all times. One caregiver must be present for each underage TIC visitor.
  • No food is allowed inside the Technology & Innovation Center.
  • All standard library policies apply.


By using the Technology & Innovation Center equipment, the patron agrees that the City of West Palm Beach and Mandel Public Library will not be held responsible for any errors which occur during use of the equipment, including but not limited to:

  • Errors in the conversion into digital files.
  • Errors pertaining to the quality of the cassette.
  • Damage of any type, to the original cassette tapes or media from which digital files are transferred.
  • Loss of material due to equipment malfunction.



3D Printing Guidelines

3D Printing in the Technology and Innovation Center (TIC)

  • Library patrons must have a card in good standing and attend a 3D Printing session in order to make a 3D print request. 
  • 3D models will be saved in the proper format (STL, OBJ ) inside the 3D Project folder on the designated TIC 3D Print computer station.
  • Printing time for single or multi-part projects will not exceed 5 hours.
  • Only one printing project per person per session.
  • The library's 3D printers may be used only for lawful purposes. The public will not be permitted to use the library's 3D printers to create material that is:
    • Prohibited by local, state or federal law.
    • Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses an immediate threat to the well-being of others. (Such use may violate the terms of use of the manufacturer)
    • Obscene or otherwise inappropriate for the library environment.
    • In violation of another's intellectual property rights. For example, the printers will not be used to reproduce material that is subject to copyright, patent or trademark protection.
    • The library reserves the right to refuse any 3D print request.
  • The library is not liable for any malfunctions or misprints.
  • Objects unclaimed after 7 days may be discarded or recycled.


TIC Filming Guidelines

To book the Technology & Innovation Center for filming, as well as check out the equipment for filming, patrons must:  

  • Have a Mandel Public Library card in good standing with borrowing privileges (no outstanding fines and not expired). Every person using the space must have a library card.   

  • Keep filming inside of the Technology & Innovation Center only.  

  • Keep noise to a regular speaking volume at maximum. The space is not soundproof.   

  • Note that furniture may not be moved, and other library equipment may not be used without prior approval.  

  • Abide by the 4-hour booking time in the room. This includes set up and tear down. Staff will not be available to assist with managing or setting up personal equipment. You are expected to be out the door by the end of the 4-hour period, not just starting to break down.  

  • Have a maximum of six people in the room at any time. This includes everyone in the room, not just those actively working.    

  • Save and download your own work. Work saved on our equipment will not remain. Use online storage, or bring your own device, download the video and clear the library SD card, or bring a personal SD card for use with our camera.   


Station reservations are available - limit 2 hours, 1 station per session:

  • Tuesdays – Thursdays, 2 – 6 p.m.
  • Fridays, 10 a.m. – Noon
  • Fridays Film Time, 12:30 – 4:30 p.m. (4 hour session)
  • Saturdays, 2 – 4 p.m.
  • Closed on Sundays, Mondays, and holidays.
